Manhattan 0191

New York has two main concentrations of high-rise buildings: Midtown Manhattan and Lower Manhattan, each with its own uniquely recognizable skyline.

This Painting is set in the evening red sunset light, casting cool blue shadows and dark reds, magenta and orange shadows – juxtaposition with the metallic gold glittering tops that resonate in the twilight.

Emotional Explosion.

To paint an artists needs to gather what has attracted and inspired him to paint it onto canvas.

The act of doing this is as different and as varied as your own fingerprint. Some like to sketch an almost photographic picture while others explore the expression and feel of a séance or portrait.

Having done both I prefer the excitement of a view to transfer itself through your emotions and direct onto the canvas by painting that first explosion of colours and almost abstract physical excitement at the sometime controlling the juxtaposition and contrast of darks and lights while letting them freely intermingle and clash in an extemporize and emotional composition.

The second and final phase is the architectural restructuring and emphasising of recognisable structure adding stokes and colour depth to emphasis and bring the painting to a meaningful conclusion, a work of art.
